Timeless love needs tenderness and strength. I think the reason most of us love elephants so much is that we see a core ideal that speaks to courage and perseverance. This piece is about loving ourselves, too, and having the power to follow through on our loftiest dreams. And like the gentle giants, we find strength in our most tender connections. I loved working on this painting, watching the elephants come to life and slip in and out of the pattern, an overlapping of many phrases dear to my heart.
Part of an ongoing series about love and friendship, “Wild Love,” this original painting was made in charcoal, acrylic, watercolor, gouache, pastel, and marker on paper, at 15” X 19”. Symbolism is an important part of these paintings. To read more about the meaning of elephants, please read about them in my portfolio HERE.
