Butterflies really do drink crocodile tears! It’s the perfect metaphor for kindness shown on someone’s worst day. I think we’ve all been the crocodile throwing the tantrum…but this beautiful natural phenomenon reminds me to find my gentle side in the face of adversity. This croc was lovingly drawn with pen and ink—every wart and wrinkle. The stained glass water pattern was made by layering the word “compassion.”
Part of an ongoing series about love and friendship, “Wild Love,” this original painting was made in watercolor, acrylic, gouache, marker, and ink on paper, at 15” X 19”. Symbolism is an important part of these paintings. To read more about the meaning of the crocodile and butterflies, please read about them in my portfolio HERE.
