Erase the hate. This painting is about seeing the best in others, reserving judgment, and having faith in humanity. Inspired by fighting fish and their incredible beauty even during battle, this piece asks the question: Can we pause in fighting with others long enough to admire their beauty within? Maybe see a part of ourselves in what we thought we hated? The abstract water pattern was made by layering the words “love” and “hate.” How close those two emotions really are.
Part of an ongoing series about love and friendship, “Wild Love,” this original painting was made in watercolor, acrylic, and marker on paper, at 15” X 19”. Symbolism is an important part of these paintings. To read more about the meaning of the beta fish, please read about them in my portfolio HERE.
